Well done to our London Marathon heroes!

A massive well done to our fantastic London Marathon running staff who have done themselves and their charities proud.

For some, taking part in the iconic event ticked a lifetime ambition box, while for others it marked a huge personal achievement.

Collectively, our awesome foursome are on course to raise over £17,000 for their chosen good causes..

Here’s a rundown of their experiences:

david moss

  • Smashing an incredible time of three hours and 22 seconds and shaving some 30 minutes off his previous time is Director of Estates and Facilities, David Moss. Running for the Motor Neurone Disease Association in memory of his late father-in-law. David has raised around £8,500 – with only a short break in which to put his feet up before taking in the Rob Burrows Leeds Marathon on 12 May.

Georgia marathon

  • Adding some £5,000 to Deafblind UK coffers is Georgia Galloway, who is based at the Medical Assessment Unit (MAU) at Peterborough City Hospital. Completing the 26-mile course in 4.20 hours despite struggling with a little cramp, keen runner and Scouting volunteer Georgia has now ticked the London Marathon off her bucket list – and even missed a key event in the scouting calendar to fulfil her ambition.

Sarah Edwards

  • From couch to a full-blown marathon in less than 12 months – challenges don’t come much harder than this, but it is one Healthcare Assistant Sarah Edwards has done; and she has the medal to prove it. Running alongside her husband Kev, Sarah has raised around £2,000 for Revitalise, a charity that provides holidays and getaways for disabled people and their family /carers. She said: “I can’t believe I did it and with smiles on our faces the whole way around, it was amazing.”

Helen Gregory

  • From completing a beginners’ running course in 2019, Consultant Radiographer Helen Gregory has now fulfilled a life-long ambition - by taking part in this year’s London Marathon. Raising over £1,500 for Macmillan Cancer Support, Helen says she has the most amazing experience – with all the tough moments forgotten as she ran past Buckingham Palace and down The Mall. But the running continues for Helen, who has set a goal of running a half marathon every month during 2024.
