North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust has set up a new helpline dedicated to providing updates to the relatives of patients who are admitted to either Peterborough City or Hinchingbrooke Hospital during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The phone line will be available to relatives with loved ones on Critical Care, Ward B6,Ward B7, Ward B12 and Ward B14 at Peterborough City Hospital and Critical Care, the Medical Short Stay Unit and Birch Ward at Hinchingbrooke Hospital.
The next of kin will be asked to be the point of contact for updates and to relay messages to the rest of the family, unless the patient identifies a different family member as the main contact.
Jo Bennis, Chief Nurse at North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust which runs, Peterborough City, Hinchingbrooke and Stamford and Rutland Hospitals, said: “We know that this is a worrying time for families, especially when they aren’t able to visit their loved ones in hospital. We hope that this dedicated helpline will allow them to get regular updates on their relative and help ease their concerns.
“We would like to thank families for their understanding during this difficult time.”
