Members of staff in the Outpatients department at Peterborough City Hospital raised a total of £509 in aid of Sue Ryder, Thorpe Hall Hospice.
A group of 7 staff members from the General Outpatients department took part in the Peterborough Bubble Run and the Peterborough Santa Run and Walk.
Nicki Errington, staff nurse in Outpatients said: “As a team we jumped at the chance of doing the Bubble Run and Santa Run and Walk. It was even easier to say yes when we knew we’d be fundraising for Sue Ryder, Thorpe Hall as it’s our local hospice where each one of us has a personal story to tell. We didn’t do much in terms of preparation as each one of us has different levels of fitness; we decided it would be easier to all walk together.”
The team were split into 2 smaller groups, Kylie, Amy, Sarah and Sophie all volunteered for the Bubble Run and were given t-shirts before the race which took place on September 24 and raised a total of £202.
Group 2 consisted of Shirley, Sarah, Mandy and Nicki who entered the Santa Run, Santa suits were provided at the beginning of the race. The raised a total of £308, Julia was also part of the team; unfortunately she was unable to take part in the walks but was able to be a part of the fundraising team.
In the future the ladies are hoping to do more fundraising for Thorpe Hall Hospice and are already planning on doing the Colour Run and Walk later on this year.
