Help spread the Love from Lapland to poorly patients

Patients spending Christmas Day in hospital are set to benefit from a Christmas appeal launched by staff at North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust.

The Love from Lapland campaign aims to spread some festive magic throughout the hospitals by ensuring that every patient, from newborns and their mums to the elderly, will receive a gift from Santa on Christmas Day.

Now in its second year, the campaign is being launched across all three hospitals: Stamford Hospital, Peterborough City Hospital and Hinchingbrooke Hospital.

Jo Bennis, Chief Nurse at North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust, said: “We know that for some patients, Christmas can be a particularly lonely time, especially if they do not have any visitors or family nearby to visit them in hospital. We want to brighten their day and show them they can still be part of the festivities despite being an inpatient.”

To help make this Christmas extra special for those unfortunate enough to have to spend it in hospital, staff are asking local communities across Huntingdon, Peterborough and Stamford for their support.

“A gift, no matter how small, can go a long way to making Christmas special for our patients,” said Jo. “We would really appreciate help to make the campaign as successful as last year. We’re asking local businesses and members of the public for their support, either by making a donation via our MyDonate page or by donating an unwrapped gift.”

The Trust has also set up a wish list on Amazon to give people some inspiration. All items cost less than £10 and any presents ordered directly from the wish list will be delivered straight to the Trust, so you don’t need to worry about dropping them off at the hospital.

Alternatively, presents can be purchased and dropped off at the reception desks at any of the hospitals.
