Continuing our Mother's Day campaign we are focusing on Theresa McCarthy.
Theresa is Matron for the Family and Integrated Support Division which looks at quality care and keeping standards to a certain level.
Theresa said: “I took on the challenge as a Matron in January, so this is a new and exciting role for me. I have worked for the Trust for 17 years as a Midwife and spent time in all areas of maternity including as Ward Manager for Transitional Care. It is a great opportunity for me to now support others to continue to achieve the high quality care that we expect.
“Midwifery is my passion and it is an honour to be there to support new parents. Now, as a Matron, I am enabling others to do the same.
“My role is incredibly varied, from checking that our hospitals are clean and safe from the spread of infection, to gathering feedback from patients and their families about the care that they have received.
“Most of the time the feedback that I receive is very positive and we celebrate this, but we also have to take the negative responses and use them as a way of learning how we can improve.
“I will be spending Mother’s Day with my son, daughter and their partners and my grandchildren.”
