Last week students from Jack Hunt School visited Peterborough City Hospital (PCH) to learn more about the various roles within the NHS, as part of a student ‘takeover’ event.
Staff at PCH welcomed students for takeover day as it enables them to understand the many job roles within the NHS and offers more in-depth knowledge and experience in any area they are particularly interested in.
The students visited; pathology, haematology/oncology, midwifery, cardiac investigations, paediatrics, pharmacy, rehabilitation, diagnostic imaging and radiotherapy.
Nikki Davis, Widening Participation Officer at North West Anglia, said: “I can’t believe we’re now in the 9th year of working with Jack Hunt to host takeover day. It’s always great to see so many students wanting to know more about careers in the NHS and our staff enjoy showing their day to day roles and responsibilities whilst showcasing what a career in the NHS could look like.”
