The Maternity Team at Peterborough City Hospital has been shortlisted for a prestigious HSJ award in the category of Staff Engagement.

“We are thrilled that the important work we are doing to encourage engagement with our staff has been recognised by the Health Service Journal awards,” says Manjula Samyraju, Obstetric Consultant. “We are a hugely diverse multi-disciplinary team made up of midwives, junior doctors, anaesthetists and consultants and one of our main aims is to focus on reducing risk in pregnancy and labour. To do this we put a strong emphasis on working together as a team, improving communication and training, and learning from our mistakes. We wouldn’t have achieved this without the hard work and dedication of each member of maternity staff.”

The 2018 HSJ Awards gives healthcare staff the opportunity to share projects and to celebrate and recognise the value of that work to staff within their organisation. Entrants are subject to a strict expert judging process where they can benchmark their contributions to healthcare excellence and develop their projects with partners across the UK and further afield.

Finalists must now present their entries at to a formal judging panel later this month before attending the awards ceremony on Wednesday 21 November at the Intercontinental 02 in London.

“We are incredibly proud of our maternity team for this achievement,” says Dr Kanchan Rege, Medical Director. “They are a dedicated and committed group who always strive to better patient experience. We wish them the very best of luck for November.”
