Nurses at Stamford Hospital raised £450 last week for a Sri Lankan children’s charity as part of their Nurses’ Day celebrations on Friday 12 May.
The money was raised from cake sales and donated items. A huge ‘Nurses' Day' cake was made by Deputy Sister Sue Mansell, which was shared with staff.
Matron and Site Manager Sue Brooks, said: “Nurses' Day, which commemorates the birthday of Florence Nightingale, always gives us the opportunity to celebrate the contribution nurses make throughout the world. Our efforts showed how our health care community can come together to do something great for others.”
The money will be sent to the Meth Mihira Special Education Centre for children who have special needs.
