North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust, which runs Peterborough City, Hinchingbrooke and Stamford Hospitals, has appointed Dr Mark Sanderson to join the Board of Directors as a Non-Executive Director.

Mark was a GP in St Ives for 17 years and has over 10 years’ experience as a NHS Medical Director. He was Medical Director for NHS Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Clinical Commissioning Group until January 2020, and prior to that was Deputy Regional Medical Director for NHS England (Midlands and East). He has also been a GP trainer, a NHS England Responsible Officer, and a GMC Performance Assessor. He is Provost of the East Anglia Faculty of the Royal College of General Practitioners.

Trust chairman, Rob Hughes, will formally welcome Mark to the Board at its August meeting. He said: “I look forward to working with Mark who joins us at a key time for the organisation. We are emerging from the Covid-19 pandemic and reshaping many of the ways we operate as a Trust to care for our patients. His expertise as a former GP and his work as a medical director across the region will be invaluable to us at this time.”
