Trust named most active after stepping up to the Global Challenge

Staff receiving the award for being the most active trust

North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust has been named the most active Trust after staff stepped up to the Virgin Pulse Global Challenge to increase their physical activity.

Staff from across Peterborough, Hinchingbrooke and Stamford Hospitals signed up to walk, run, cycle or swim, over a 100 day period, earning them the top spot against 34 other NHS organisations.

Joanna Bainbridge, Acting Director of Workforce and Organisational Development, said: “Over 500 members of staff from across all three of our hospitals took part in the challenge competing against 10,000 NHS staff members, so we are thrilled to have been awarded the most active Trust in the challenge.

The Global Challenge was implemented as part of the Trust’s staff health and wellbeing initiative.

“We are committed to ensuring our staff stay as healthy and active as possible and we have received really positive feedback from our staff, some of whom have made changes to their lifestyle as a result of the challenge, says Joanna. “The challenge not only looks at physical activity, but also looks at nutrition and sleep patterns, encouraging staff to make positive changes and form healthy habits."
