North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust, which runs Peterborough City, Hinchingbrooke and Stamford Hospitals, has appointed Keyur Bhatt to take up a 12-month post as a NExT Director.
The NExT Director programme is a national initiative which provides individuals with experience of board-level roles in NHS Trusts.
Keyur has a background in mobile telecommunications and computing, and for the last 13 years he has been operating his family business - a 40-bed Care Home in Bedford which cares for elderly vulnerable people, those living with dementia, mental health issues and frailty.
He said: “This is a great opportunity for me to see how NHS partners work together in caring for patients throughout their journey from admission to discharge. My background in care provision will hopefully give me a greater understanding of the challenges NHS organisations face, and I am looking forward to contributing to the board-level activity of the Trust.”
Trust Chairman, Professor Steve Barnett, said: “I am delighted to welcome Keyur to our Board. I am sure we can learn as much from him as he will from our organisation.
“The NExT director programme is supported by NHS England and one that we have supported in the past. It is designed to give a unique insight into the role and responsibilities of being an NHS Non-Executive Director by supporting senior people in bridging knowledge gaps and providing the opportunity to learn first-hand about the challenges and opportunities associated with being a Non-Executive Director in the NHS today.”
