Chaplaincy

'We're here for you - whoever you are and whatever you believe’

Our Role

We offer pastoral, spiritual and religious care to everyone at Hinchingbrooke Hospital, supported by multi-faith leaders from our local community and a team of lay and ordained volunteers.

We visit patients and their families to listen, care, offer support and when appropriate, offer prayer, Holy Communion and other religious services at their bedside. Our working hours are from 8am to 4pm and we have an on call service for emergency situations outside of these times.

The Chapel

The chapel is on the main corridor on the ground floor - just look out for the signs. It is open day and night and all are welcome there for times of quiet reflection or prayer. The Chapel Garden is also always open and a place of beauty and peace.

We hold a variety of services each week and all are welcome:

  • Wednesday, 4.30pm - Roman Catholic Mass
  • Fridays, 1pm - Muslim Juma Prayers
On the first Wednesday on each month from 11am, we hold a short service of remembrance for those who have sadly experienced early baby loss.

We have special services throughout the year: baptisms, renewal of wedding vows, the Trust Carol Service in December and memorial services.

We take part in all aspects of our hospital's life

We are members of various committees and groups, sharing in discussions about ethical issues, dignity and respect, holistic care and on all spiritual, pastoral and religious matters, as well as learning and development and education.

Supporting staff and volunteers

Having someone to share your personal and/or work-related concerns with, who offers a non-judgemental and confidential ear, can often be really helpful. We offer support for everyone.
