Your first appointment in pregnancy is called the booking appointment. It usually takes place between 8-10 weeks and is an important part of planning your care.
This appointment is face to face with a midwife and usually lasts around 90 minutes.
At this appointment you will have the opportunity to meet your midwife. At the initial appointment the midwife will ask questions about your medical, social and obstetric history to determine the right care pathway for you and your pregnancy. Your height, weight, blood pressure and carbon monoxide level (CO) will be measured. Your urine will be tested and a sample sent to the lab.
