Having had 2 children, I felt the need to get back out to work on a part-time basis. It was the Jobcentre in Peterborough at the time (mid 1980’s) where I found a part-time clerical officer role in the then Catering Department at the Peterborough District Hospital, the rest they say “is history”.

My role (Executive Assistant to the Chief Nurse) now consists of providing high level executive support to the Chief Nurse. This means being her “eyes and ears”, ensuring she is where she needs to be at any given time and managing her calendar and emails.

I have always enjoyed looking after “one person” and I'm really proud to be supporting the Chief Nurse and helping to prepare her day. She is an incredible Chief Nurse being responsible for managing a very diverse portfolio, I am in awe of how she manages to do what she does. I also really enjoy working with such a great team (Care Quality and Executive Support team) and being able to support them as needed.

One of my proudest moments in my role was receiving a nomination for Outstanding Achievement Award in the category Hospital Heroes (public nomination) last year. I felt very humbled and honoured.
