Mortuary and Bereavement Services

The Bereavement Care Centre provides practical support to families and friends of patients who have passed away in our hospitals. This includes:

  • The preparation of legal documents and other paperwork necessary
  • Liaising with and assisting Doctors, Consultants, Medical Examiners, Coroner’s Officers, Registrars and other professionals carrying out duties related to the death
  • Providing advice and guidance to the bereaved on procedures required when someone dies
  • Organise appointments for the bereaved to see their loved one and support them if required

Caroline Peacock, Lead Mortuary & Bereavement Services Co-ordinator, said:  "The bereavement teams based in both Peterborough and Hinchingbrooke are passionate about the care they provide to our patients and the bereaved, we recognise this is a very difficult time for families and friends and it's essential that all the required documentation is accurate and produced in a timely manner so we don't create any additional upset for them. It is this unwavering care and compassion and desire to get everything right, often under very difficult circumstances, that I am most proud of.
Justine Gillies, Deputy Mortuary & Bereavement Services Co-Ordinator at Hinchingbrooke added “Our Team in Hinchingbrooke all feel so privileged to be able to help families and friends through their most difficult time.”
