In 1995, Colette Raby and Kellie Lay both began their careers in the Medical Records Library at Hinchingbrooke Hospital. What started as entry-level roles in a busy, paper-based records department grew into a remarkable 30-year partnership — and an extraordinary 60 years of combined service to the Trust.
From processing GP referrals and maintaining data quality to delivering urgent patient notes and supporting frontline staff, both built strong foundations in accuracy, teamwork, and patient-centred information management. As the organisation evolved, so did their roles.
Colette progressed to Joint Team Leader in 2009, helping to oversee the smooth running of Medical Records while developing an interest in Access to Health Records and Freedom of Information. Kellie formally took on Freedom of Information responsibilities in 2013 alongside her medical records duties, strengthening the Trust's commitment to transparency and compliance.
In 2017, both transitioned into dedicated Freedom of Information roles, becoming the core of the FOI function. Together, they have navigated legislative changes, digital transformation, and organisational change — always ensuring that information is handled with professionalism, integrity, and care.
Looking back on her 30 years at the Trust, Kellie shared her gratitudefor the professional relationship she has developed with Colette: “I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to Colette for her kindness, help and friendship over the past 30 years. Working with her has been a true privilege, and I deeply appreciate the support and camaraderie she has shown throughout our time together.”
Colette echoed that sentiment, describing Kellie as “a trusted colleague who has been there for me professionally and as a friend throughout my career.”
Thirty years working side by side is a rare achievement, building a lasting professional partnership — an achievement truly worth celebrating.
