Rheumatology

We support patients right across the area we cover as a Trust and we run rheumatology clinics at Peterborough City, Hinchingbrooke and Stamford & Rutland Hospitals.

Rheumatology is a medical specialty that deals with musculoskeletal conditions, as well as autoimmune and inflammatory conditions in people of all ages.

Our Rheumatologists work in a multidisciplinary team, mostly in an outpatient setting,  and we diagnose, treat, and manage a broad range of conditions, including:

  • Inflammatory (rheumatic) disorders that affect muscles, joints, and bones, such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, reactive arthritis.
  • crystal arthritis such as gout and acute calcium pyrophosphate crystal arthritis (pseudogout)
  • Autoimmune systemic disorders and connective tissue disease such as lupus, Sjogren’s, systemic sclerosis, myositis.
  • other autoimmune systemic conditions such as polymyalgia, giant cell arteritis, vasculitis
  • metabolic bone disorders such as osteoporosis and osteomalacia
