Integrated Care Systems (ICS) are geographically based partnerships that bring together organisations that meet health and care needs, improve population health and reduce inequalities. They form a central part of the NHS Long Term Plan and cover the whole of the country.
ICSs’ are responsible for ensuring joint working between the NHS and Local Authorities to make shared commissioning (buying) decisions with providers, the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector (VCSE) and local people about how they use their resources, design services and improve the overall health and wellbeing of local people.
The final legislation to enable the ICS to come into being, the Health and Care Act 2022 received Royal Assent on 28 April 2022. This confirmed the date for Integrated Care Systems and Integrated Care Boards to come into effect from 1 July 2022, replacing CCGs. Before this date, we worked in shadow form.
North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust is proud to be a member of the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Integrated Care System.
