Gastroenterology is where the digestive system and its disorders are diagnosed, studied and treated. Hepatology incorporates the study of the liver, gallbladder, biliary tree and pancreas, as well as the management of their disorders. Our services are also closely related to the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Service.

The Hepatology service aims to provide patients with information and support, while providing prompt access to specialist advice, care and treatment.
Our Hepatology team see patients in a wide area based from Peterborough hospital; as far as St. Neots, and up as far as South Lincolnshire. You can be referred to our service by your GP or by a specialist service such as a Drug and Alcohol service.
Patients, with all types of liver disease, are referred to us for assessment and management of their condition.

Our Gastroenterologists perform gastroscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy and colonoscopy, both diagnostic and therapeutic, including stent insertion and polypectomy. Our Consultants have special interests in endoscopy, inflammatory bowel disease, nutrition support and liver disease.
We investigate and treat a wide range of gastrointestinal conditions. We liaise closely with our upper gastrointestinal and colorectal surgical colleagues in the investigation and care of our patients.
