Congratulations to staff across PCH, HH and SRH who attend the graduation ceremony at PCH Wednesday evening to celebrate the completion of their Care Certificates and apprenticeship qualifications.
Held during National Apprenticeship Week, over 15 certificates were awarded to staff who had completed their level 2 or 3 apprenticeships across several areas. The Care Certificate is based on 15 standards, which staff need to complete before they can be awarded. Over 20 new Health Care Assistants were presented with their Care Certificate awards, which they had achieved within the first fifteen weeks of their employment in the Trust.
Amongst the apprentices in attendance for this event was Heather Beckerton, Senior Healthcare Assistant, who not only received her level 4 diploma in clinical support but was also a recipient of one of the Outstanding Learner Awards for the Caring and Compassionate category. Heather has worked exceptionally hard to achieve her Level 3 qualification, producing consistently high-quality work throughout. She has remained committed, dependable, professional, and acting as a role model and leader within the ED/UTC team.
Heather shared: “It was such a shock, I didn't expect any sort of nomination let alone win the Outstanding Learner Award for being Caring and Compassionate. The fact that the nomination was by my colleagues is what makes it extra special to me. To me I'm just doing my job, but to be recognised by my colleagues is lovely and means a lot.”
Heather's nominator also detailed how she treats patients and their families with genuine empathy, compassion, and respect, while also demonstrating the confidence and professionalism needed to manage difficult situations effectively when required.
She is a true asset to the hospital and thoroughly deserves recognition for her dedication, professionalism, and outstanding contribution.
The Outstanding Learner awards are awards nominated by other colleagues that reflect the Trust values: Putting Patients First, Actively Respectful, Seeking to Improve and Develop, Caring and Compassionate and Working Positively Together.
