Members of the Hinchingbrooke and St Ivo Lodges visited the Woodlands Centre to present a donation of £14,000 to staff.
Two ladies' evenings raised funds through event and raffle ticket sales. Following a successful application to the Provincial Grand Charity, the amount raised was matched resulting in an impressive final total.
For one of the members, Albert Bareham who is Worshipful Masters of one of the Lodges, the Woodlands Centre holds a deeply personal place in his heart. In 2010, its staff cared for his father with great compassion, and six years ago, when Albert received his own cancer diagnosis, the centre once again supported him through an incredibly difficult time.
Albert said: “The Woodlands Centre has been there for my family during our hardest moments. The care my dad received, and later the support I experienced following my own diagnosis, meant everything to us. For eighteen months, every third Friday I was in the Woodlands receiving treatment so to be able to give something back to say thank you is a privilege.
Faith Lagumbay, Unit Manager, said: “We are sincerely thankful to the members of the Hinchingbrooke and St Ivo Lodges for this generous contribution. This donation will directly support the purchase of new chemotherapy pumps and improvements to our facilities, enabling us to continue delivering high-quality care and a better overall experience for our patients, carers, and volunteers.”
Albert was joined by Mick Warren Provincial Grand Charity Steward, Sean Dennis Hinchingbrooke Lodge Charity Steward, Trevor Clarke was the worshipful master of St Ivo Lodge, Michael Carrington the Charity Steward of St Ivo Lodge and Francis Margot the Assistant Provincial Grand Master.
