The Women’s Physiotherapy Team at North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust are hosting a wellness event in the community for women, taking them on a journey through local health services and health screening programmes they may need or wish to access throughout their lives. There will be representation from a host of services such as fertility, maternity, pelvic health, menopause and breast, with information stands, live seminars and practical workshops.
Some communities still face health inequalities and by showcasing local health services, the team are hoping to reduce this and share the message that healthcare is for everyone. The event will be held on Saturday 30 September at Queensgate Shopping Centre in the old Next store. Women will also have the opportunity to feed back their experiences and concerns with local community groups, Peterborough & Hinchingbrooke Maternity Voices Partnership and The Raham Project.
Liezl Rossouw, Advanced Clinical Practitioner Physiotherapist for the Trust, said: “We’re excited to be hosting this event with the support from our Breast Cancer Team. Our team is passionate about raising awareness about all aspects of women’s health and hope this event will be a step towards eliminating the stigma and embarrassment about speaking to healthcare professionals about women’s health related issues. We hope this event will empower women with knowledge and understanding of their own health and wellbeing.”
