Planning permission has been granted to allow for demolition of the existing building that sits on the proposed site for the new Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) in Wellington Street, Peterborough.
“This is an exciting milestone as it’s when we will start to see change on the site,” says Chris Howard, Deputy Director of Strategic Estate Development, “Fencing and scaffolding will be erected in the coming days and actual demolition works are due to start next week.”
The next stage in the project will include submitting a formal planning application for the new CDC which will offer CT, MRI and DEXA scanning, as well as phlebotomy services and a direct link to the pathology services that are run at Peterborough City Hospital.
Work has been ongoing for some months to work out the demand for these diagnostic services in the city and ensure that the new facility can meet the growing needs of an expanding population. The Centre is due to open late next year.
