New Community Diagnostic Centre receives planning approval

Planning permission for the Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) in Peterborough, has been approved – marking the beginning of an exciting new healthcare facility in the heart of Peterborough city centre.

Located in Wellington Street, the state-of-the-art CDC will offer CT, MRI, Dexa, Xray, Ultrasound & Fibroscan, as well as Cardiology and Respiratory diagnostic services. The impressive new facility is much needed to help further improve the delivery of diagnostic testing and reduce patient waiting times for clinical investigation. It’s central location means it will be easier for patients to access care in the community.

“We are incredibly pleased that planning approval has been granted on this project,” says Hannah Coffey, Chief Executive. “As an organisation, we are working tirelessly on reducing diagnostic wait times, and opening the CDC will undoubtedly improve patient experience.

“The recent announcement on the NHS 10 Year Plan highlights the importance of moving diagnostic services out of hospitals and integrating them into local community settings to improve access, speed, and efficiency. So we are thrilled to be one of the new CDCs that will be opening next year and we look forward to seeing the build develop over the coming months.”

Construction is due to begin on site in August, and the Community Diagnostic Centre is due to open fully in 2026.
