A new lung cancer screening programme will be rolled out across Peterborough and the surrounding areas, over the next few weeks.
Thousands of patients aged between 55 to 74, who have a history of smoking on their GP record, will receive a letter inviting them to book a lung cancer screening appointment in the community.
The initiative which is being led by NHS England, works with local primary care organisations and hospitals to improve early diagnosis and survival for those diagnosed with cancer.
Following the lung check, those assessed as high-risk will be offered a low dose CT scan. It is really important that anyone offered an appointment attends even if they feel well.
Find out more about the initiative and why it's so important to take up the screening if you're offered it visiting the Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Integrated Care System's website.
