Huge congratulations to Haleema Zaman, who has achieved Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) status following completion of an intensive three-year MSc programme with University College London (UCL).
Haleema is the first Ophthalmology ACP in the East of England region. Alongside her clinical role, she completed examinations, a portfolio and dissertation, developing skills across clinical practice, leadership, education and research.
North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust's Haleema's specialist interest is Eye Emergency, where she is working with colleagues to transform the service. Changes have already reduced overbookings, improved communication and referral pathways with primary care, and helped ensure patients receive the right care, from the right team, at the right time.

Haleema said: “The course was challenging but incredibly rewarding, and the support I have received from my colleagues has been invaluable - I truly couldn't have done it without them! I am extremely proud of this achievement, particularly having achieved a distinction in my end-point assessment, and I'm excited to build on this experience to further enhance the service and improve patient care.”
Haleema would particularly like to thank Steve Joy, Divisional Operations Manager for Ophthalmology & OMFS; Carl Svasti-Salee, Consultant Ophthalmologist and Eye Emergency Lead; Rebecca George, Head Orthoptist; and Linda McInerney, Outgoing Clinical Lead, for their professional and pastoral support, encouragement and guidance throughout her ACP journey.
