
Professor Steve Barnett, the Chair of our Trust, has been made an OBE in the King’s Birthday Honours announced early today.
Steve, who became our Chair in April 2022, was honoured for his services to the NHS which recognises his achievements in his 31-year career where he has held a range of very senior appointments in the Department of Health and the Home Office and other acute Trusts.
As well as fulfilling the role of Chair of the Trust Board of Directors, which oversees the running of Peterborough City, Hinchingbrooke and Stamford and Rutland Hospitals, Steve Chairs the Trust’s Council of Governors. He also champions to support provided by the Trust’s 500-strong army of volunteers – and can often be seen working along side them in their distinctive blue polo shirts.
Chief Executive Hannah Coffey said: “On behalf of our board of directors, governors and staff across our hospitals, we would like to congratulate Steve on such a well-deserved honour. We are very proud to have him as our Chair.”
Steve said: “It is both amazing and humbling to be recognised in this way. I have had the great privilege to work with some incredible people in the NHS who are so committed to patient care and given me excellent personal support. I see this very much as an honour for the team.”
