
James is Chief Operating Officer at Anglia Ruskin University (ARU) where he leads on the delivery of the University's professional services.
At ARU, James led the work to establish and launch ARU Peterborough, a partnership with the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority and Peterborough City Council to provide higher education opportunities for Peterborough and the surrounding areas. More recently, James led the work to merge with Writtle University College and is a member of the Writtle College Board.
He is also a member of the CBI Eastern Region Council and the Greater Cambridge Partnership. He began his career in a range of roles in the Civil Service in Whitehall, before moving to local government where he led a broad portfolio of services and functions.
James is a qualified accountant and chairs the Audit Committee and the Hinchingbrooke Hospital Redevelopment Programme Board.
