Our Monthly Star Awards

Our monthly Star Awards celebrate an outstanding individual and team from across the Trust each month, celebrating members of Team North West Anglia who exhibit outstanding qualities that align with our Trust values. Nominations for our monthly Star Awards come from staff, who nominate colleagues and teams who they feel have gone above and beyond in their role.

Meet Sue, your October Individual of the Month

Meet your October Individual of the Month, Star Award winner.... Sue Wilcock!

Sue was chosen as our October Star Award winner because of how she went above and beyond to create a beautiful moment for a patient and his loved ones.

Sue was key in organising a wedding at very short notice which took place on Baytree Ward. The wedding was for a young gentleman who was given a tough diagnosis and a very short prognosis. Sue spent time outside of her shift contacting numerous companies internally and externally to ensure the couple had the most memorable experience.

Within 24 hours Sue had a photographer, flowers, decorations, she purchased items herself to ensure little things that mattered were dealt with and she also managed to get a local supermarket to donate a wedding cake and even an activity hamper for the four small children who attended the wedding. Her input was invaluable in ensuring one of the final wishes for this gentleman was met.

There was not a dry eye on the ward and the work that Sue put in to ensure this happened went way beyond her role and meets the values of the Trust to their fullest.

What a fantastic example of a caring health professional at their best. Sue, you are a deserving award winner, thank you and well done!
