Our monthly Star Awards celebrate an outstanding individual and team from across the Trust each month, celebrating members of Team North West Anglia who exhibit outstanding qualities that align with our Trust values. Nominations for our monthly Star Awards come from staff, who nominate colleagues and teams who they feel have gone above and beyond in their role.
We would like to say a huge well done to Megan O'Neill, who is the winner of June's Individual of the Month Star Award. Megan is a Nursing Associate who has been nominated for her extremely kind, caring and compassionate care she provides our patients.
As a Nursing Associate your role is to learn and develop your skills and knowledge so that you can become a registered nurse in the future, regularly completing tasks such as taking vital signs, administering medications and assisting with personal care. All of which Megan has shown to do an exceptional job at. In this role you are expected to be able to demonstrate the right values and behaviours that a registered nurse would follow and be compassionate and respectful, working under the guidance of qualified nurses and engaging in learning opportunities to enhance your professional development. Megan has demonstrated these skills whilst having a real desire to learn.
Megan's nomination for her Star Award came from Kelly Maunder, Ward Manager on Ward A9. Kelly used the Star Award nomination to pass on feedback from another colleague who was on the ward supporting her mother in law who has dementia. In the nomination it is highlighted how attentive Megan was with the patient, making sure that she kept checking in on them throughout the night. They continue to explain the high level of care that Megan demonstrates with her patients.
"It was her first shift in A9. She was nothing but kind caring, compassionate and patient - Megan. She kept checking in on us through the night... I'm so unbelievably grateful."
Well done Megan, a thoroughly deserved star!
