Graduation celebration held to honour staff achievements

Group photo of the staff who received their care certificatesStaff across Peterborough City, Hinchingbrooke and Stamford Hospital came together last night to celebrate completing their Care Certificates and apprenticeship qualifications.

The celebration event was held at Hinchingbrooke Hospital and staff across a variety of wards and departments were in attendance to receive their qualification certificates. The Care Certificate is based on 15 standards, which staff need to complete before they can be awarded. In total, 36 new Healthcare Assistants were presented with their Care Certificate awards, which they had achieved within the first fifteen weeks of their employment in the Trust.

Healthcare Assistant Cerys Rogers was among those who received their care certificate and was also a recipient of one of the Outstanding Leaner awards for Putting Patients First. Cerys was nominated for consistently going above and beyond for their patients and the warm friendly interactions with visitors and family members, their nominator said, ‘They are a very compassionate individual with a desire to provide an excellent standard of care. We can see that they enjoy their work and are passionate about the role. We have every confidence that they will continue to develop in their role and can see that they are already a valuable asset to the team.’

Cerys said:” I was so happy to have been thought of and awarded for the "We put our Patients first" category, because it's the one that means the most to me, at the end of the day we're all human and we deserve to be treated like humans, we're all living life for the first time, so it's a must that we  treat each other with kindness and respect. I'm also proud of myself and all the others that received their care certificates and the Outstanding Learner awards.”

The Outstanding Learner awards are nominated by other colleagues that reflect the Trust values: Putting Patients First, Actively Respectful, Seeking to Improve and Develop, Caring and Compassionate and Working Positively Together.

Charlotte Williams, Deputy Chief Executive for the Trust said: “It was my first time attending the graduation ceremony and it was lovely to see so many staff in attendance and share in their celebrations.

Congratulations to our five members of staff who received the Outstanding Learner Awards, it was a joy to hear each nomination and share in your success.”
