The team leading on the build of the new Hinchingbrooke Hospital is hosting a series of public engagement events, to update on the progress made since it was announced that a replacement hospital is to be built under the Government’s New Hospital Programme.
Members of the public can get involved either by joining one of two face-to-face events on the hospital site or one of two online events being held in the coming weeks. Hinchingbrooke Hospital, which is run by North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust, was added to the Government’s New Hospital Programme in May 2023 and the project team have been working hard to develop the Strategic Outline Case, which is the first step in the project approval process.
Deborah Lee, Senior Responsible Officer for Hinchingbrooke’s redevelopment programme, said: “This is a really exciting time for all of us and we want to give the public the opportunity to get involved, provide their feedback and help us on our redevelopment journey. We are in the early stages of development at the moment, but we have lots to share and would like to give our local community an update on our plans for the future.”
The events will be held:
- Online on Thursday 25th July at 2.30pm to 3.30pm with the link available here and again on Thursday 1st August 10am to 11am with the link available here.
- Face-to-face at Hinchingbrooke Hospital, Partnership Suite, Education Centre on Thursday 25th July from 5.30pm until 7pm and again on Thursday 1st August from 4.30pm until 6pm. Refreshments will be provided.

Notes to editors:
- Hinchingbrooke Hospital was built in 1983 and is one of four hospitals in the East of England affected by structural issues relating to the concrete panels used in the construction of some of the walls and roof. These panels, called Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (RAAC) were reviewed is a site-wide survey carried out by structural engineers when the issue first came to light. Remedial actions were taken where any faults were detected to ensure the buildings were safe to be used and completed in May 2023. An ongoing annual review and mitigation work will continue to maintain safety standards.
- In May 2023 the Government announced that Hinchingbrooke Hospital was added to the New Hospital Programme. The redevelopment programme, named Hinchingbrooke Hospital: The Next Chapter, is aiming to complete the new hospital on our site by 2030.
