Both Peterborough City Hospital and Hinchingbrooke Hospital will shine bright in pink and blue tomorrow this week, as part of the Baby Loss Awareness Week #WaveofLight. The week aims to bring together all those touched and affected by pregnancy and baby loss, to provide reflect, support and share experiences, so that no one feels alone.
“Losing a baby affects 1 in 2 people and it’s devastating time for anyone having to go through it,” says Lesley Carline, Bereavement Specialist Midwife. “It can feel like a very frightening, unpredictable time and we want to remind people of the support we can offer to help guide them and their families during such a difficult time in their lives. We have specialist teams at both of our sites and this week we have staff manning information stands in our main entrances, which are open for anyone to approach and talk to someone about their experience."
There will be trees of light available in the Faith Centre at PCH and the Chapel at Hinchingbrooke for parents and families to come and leave their messages of remembrance on. “We are also holding two dedicated coffee afternoons in these areas on Monday 14 October. Anyone is welcome to come along and speak to someone or just have a moment of reflection. This will be followed by a short service which will be led by our Chaplains” says Lesley.
Baby loss awareness week is recognised nationally and all week we will be sharing and signposting to additional support for anyone affected by the trauma and pain of pregnancy and baby loss. Please follow our social media accounts for more information.
