Patients, visitors and staff at Peterborough City Hospital are being greeted by the latest in a series of brew-tiful post box toppers – marking the annual Macmillan Coffee Morning!
Volunteer and staff members of the Knit and Natter Group (which incorporates Hinchingbrooke Hospital in Huntingdon) have spent around eight weeks working on the tea-riffic topper to co-incide with the annual Macmillan Cancer Support national event.
The latest post box topper follows on from the recent celebration of the Paris 2024 Olympics and the D-Day commemoration earlier this year.
The group is using this latest project to help raise awareness of the Cancer Wellbeing Service.
Located at Peterborough City Hospital, the service provides practical and emotional support to people affected by cancer, as well as their family and friends.
Established over 30 years ago, the service has grown to offer a range of talking therapy, complementary therapies, lifestyle and welfare advice, arts and craft classes or just a comforting and welcoming place for a cup of tea and a chat.
The Service is one of the many areas of the Trust which is supported by the North West Anglia Hospitals’ Charity. If you would like to offer your support, please visit North West Anglia Hospitals Charity: Cancer Wellbeing Service (enthuse.com)
The official Macmillan Coffee Morning takes place on Friday 27 September, but fundraisers can hold their own coffee morning in their home or workplace at a time to suit them.
Last year, the event raised over £18 million.
