
Staff at North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust celebrated their achievements after coming out top in the brand-new local NHS awards organised by the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Integrated Care System.
The Practice Learning Awards are for staff in healthcare and celebrates learners and educators in nursing, midwifery, and Allied Health Professions (AHPs) across a range of areas such as innovation, peer support and being an advocate for service users.
Out of the eleven categories for staff to be nominated in, the Trust had five winners across Peterborough City and Hinchingbrooke Hospital and 10 staff members who were finalists in the awards, with one or more entries in each category.
Jo Bennis, Chief Nurse for the Trust, said: “ It’s fantastic news that our staff have been recognised for their hard work, dedication, and love for teaching. I am extremely proud of all our nominees, finalists, and winners. This is a great testament to the support we provide one another and how we are always striving to improve. Well done everyone."
The awards took place on Friday 21 June at the University of Cambridge School of Clinical Medicine and as part of the celebrations included, poster presentations , guest speakers, careers fair and the opportunity to showcase innovation.
One of our award winners was Raj Thirunageswaram, Head of Allied Health Professionals, who was nominated for proactively raising the profile of Allied Health Professionals not only across the Trust but also regionally and has led the org anisation on many regional events, including an anti-racism event and a celebration of international recruitments. Raj is an effective and inclusive leader, who celebrates the successes of his AHPs and gives them opportunities to develop and grow."
Talking about receiving the award, Raj said: “It sounds cliché to say it was an honor to be nominated, but it was, and then to win the category was just incredible. I am extremely passionate about raising the profiles of AHPs not only at NWAngliaFT but across the region and I’m proud to be the Head of AHPs at the Trust.”
