Plans to build a new hospital at Hinchingbrooke have taken a major step forward following a Government announcement that it is exempt from its review of the New Hospitals Programme.
The structural issues at Hinchingbrooke, due to the presence of RAAC (Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete) in 75% of the hospital building, means our plans to construct a new hospital on the site can now 'proceed at pace'.
Hannah Coffey, Chief Executive Officer, said: "This is excellent news for our patients and staff as it enables us to eradicate RAAC from our hospital site for good.
"We are incredibly fortunate to be able to forge ahead with our build programme and we are excited to be able to provide a hospital that will meet the needs of our future patients for many decades to come."
