This month it’s the turn of our Paediatric Diabetes Team at Peterborough who have been awarded ‘Team of the Month’ in April’s Star Awards.
This month’s award winners have been recognised for their outstanding work to improve their service. The team have been working hard over the last couple of years, supporting new initiatives; introducing outreach community support, launching school clinics for all secondary schools and supporting additional MDT’s increasing from three per week to five per week and biweekly adding an additional transition clinic in the adult outpatient area.
The service is working closely with NHS England, local ICB’s, East of England CYP diabetes network and the Diabetes UK Together Type 1 programme, and are also working alongside Oxford to commence a research study looking at the use of ketone sensors. They have also supported many different technology pilots on a regional and national level meaning the team have become one of the leading centres nationally.
The team have been incredibly innovative in their approach to outreach activity and Children and Young Adult Clinical Lead for Diabetes, Nikki Dawson is also the NHS England, East of England, Clinical Lead, CYP Diabetes and is driving forward the improvements seen across the region.
Well done Paediatric Diabetes Team – thank you for your innovation and hard work.
