Neuromuscular Conditions

A Neuromuscular conditions (NMC) is a broad term that covers many different diseases and conditions. There are over 70 different known neuromuscular conditions.  NMC's can be caused by a problem:

  • in the muscle;
  • at the neuromuscular junction;
  • in the nerve supplying the muscle or;
  • in the anterior horn cell in the spine.

NMC's result in progressive muscular weakness making everyday activities such as walking or getting dressed more difficult.

  • Limb girdle Muscular Dystrophy
  • Spinal Muscular Atrophy
  • Fascioscapulohumeral dystrophy

  • Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS)
  • Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyradiculoneuropathy (CIDP)
